I wouldn't call "avoiding death camps" exactly a great victory for democracy.
As for the rest, Trump and his allies have only been in power for a year.
And the electoral college, the mechanism designed to prevent the majority from ever achieving absolute power, has only succeeded in ensuring that a ruthless and well-financed minority can seize it.
