I don't think there's much we can do about it now.
It may be too late to implement a plan to reverse the effects, or even mitigate the destruction. The best we can hope for is that the damage is obvious enough and sufficiently attributable that those responsible for it and guilty for obstructing the remedies can be sought out, exposed, and properly punished.
Like with Slavery, or the Holocaust, it won't be much help for the victims, but at least we'll have a good chance of assuring something like it doesn't happen again.
