The Democrats have the same problem with Hispanic nationalists. La Raza, and other Hispanic-centric organizations, support open borders for one reason, to increase the size and political power of their ethnic group. The democratic party thinks they can control this group, and their votes, by siding with them on the immigration debate.

Once the demographics reach a tipping point, many on the left are going to be in for a rude awakening. By the time of the seccessionist movement, guerrilla group attacks, and cross border operations of the Mexican millitary, it's going to be too late for anything short of total war to restore order.
