As I said below...
To put it simply:
They knew he was a racist.
They knew that WE knew he was a racist.
Their motivation in denying the fact wasn’t to convince us that WE were wrong, but to convince us THEY were genuinely blind to the obvious fact that he was a racist.
Why? Because if they could play naive to the fact that Trump was a racist then they could still vote for him and claim they were still, deep down, good people that just somehow didn’t see the obvious…
Its a bizarre little play they put on, and its motivation was obvious the first time they pretended to be outraged when we pointed out the blatant racism.
The truth is they voted for Trump in large part BECAUSE he is a racist, they just wish he wouldn’t keep saying the quiet part out loud… so often… on twitter… daily. It makes their charade so much more laughable, and forces them to pretend to be pretty damn stupid.
Rob knows damn well that the Birther in cheif, the man that referred to african nations as shitholes, the man that makes a point of attacking african-americans with special glee and viciousness, the man that yelled for the death penalty for the 'central park five' and refused to back down even after they were found innocent, the man that the white supremacists flock to, the man whose supporters wave the confederate flag, the man that uses racially charged language at every chance... That 'MAN' is a racist.
Rob just doesn't want us to know that HE knows... because if he supports Trump while recognizing all that, he knows that he would be a lousy excuse for a human being...
So he plays stupid beyond belief in hopes that he can hide the truth he already knows about himself... he knows he is in the wrong, and that history will damn him forever... but in the moment it just feels so damn good to watch others suffer at the hands of the man he chained himself to. The only way people like him can feel lifted up is by knowing he is on the side pushing those he deems unworthy further down.
But you can be sure he no longer wears his red hat in public...

In 1950, Trump’s father was Guthrie’s landlord in Brooklyn. Guthrie didn’t think much of Fred Trump when he wrote these unrecorded and unpublished lyrics, which were found in the Guthrie Center’s archives in 2016 by Will Kaufman, a professor of American culture at the University of Central Lancashire in Great Britain.
I suppose
Old Man Trump knows
Just how much
Racial Hate
he stirred up
In the bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed
That color line
Here at his
Eighteen hundred family project …
