Re: Political weirdos, ignorant voters and a wise democracy
One thing this guy glosses over - voters are ignorant because they have lives, and therefore depend on experts trained in analysis of politics to give them the cliff notes version of the political weirdos' philosophies. But the experts are also partisan weirdos, so the whole system fails. The internet is fixing this somewhat, but most people still have lives and little interest in the hard work of vetting politicians. Still, it is kind of amazing that democracy works well enough that we've only had one civil war in 200 some years. Doesn't mean we won't have another, but it gets less likely I think.
