Mostly agree Carter, but I would quibble with your assessment of those who can seize the available opportunity as 'few'. If that were true we'd be sunk no matter what policies we'd implement. Maybe expectations of what opportunity can provide in the way of material stuff have been raised to unrealistic levels. And as far as the minimum level of security, as much as I disagree with the basic premise of SS and Medicare, it would have worked if government could have kept their greedy mitts out of the kitty and collected compound 4% on everything that was collected from the payroll taxes over the years. The way it's been executed is a Ponzi scheme.
