The car makers didn't push for fuel economy or pollution control either.

Instead they lobbied for add-on retrofitting of catalytic converters that would be easy for US big car automakers, but a real handicap to the small-car Euros and Japanese.

But the foreign car builders showed us real innovation and technical brilliance and conquered the market anyway and the US firms had to be bailed out by the taxpayer.

Rob, these people are no damn good. Face it. Quit making excuses for these crooks.
