RL has a point. Tucker Carlson and others on FUXNEWS have promoted the "great replacement theory" bullshit night after night after night. The GOP establishment by and large has not renounced it even now in the wake of this slaughter. This despite the shooter's written statements that read like a script from Tucker's shows. There was a time not that long ago when racist sentiment like this would be disqualifying for republicans politicians. Sadly, I don't see that anymore. The needle point brush can be used to identify those politicians opposing the GOP's slide into this derangement.

I can state with all honesty that if Mitt Romney were the GOP nominee in 2024, I'd strongly consider voting for him. I disagree with much of what he believes on a policy level, but he has proven himself an honorable man who puts the country and constitution before himself. Someone like him might actually pull the majority of republicans back toward reality. He would have to contend with the rightwing media bullshit machine, but a sane republican president would be an enormous good for America and the planet.
