Not too many people actually heard the speech. It was broadcast live, but it wasn't on any of the 5 major broadcast networks--at least not where I live, a major metropolitan area. I had to listen to it on Public Radio. I'm sure it was carried by cable news, but the people who listen to cable news have already made up their minds.
Still, it was good to see that the Democrats have finally quit turning the other cheek. Maybe now the Mainstream Media will finally get the balls to do the same.
