The only voices I've heard supporting the Russians are all conservative. To be fair, I agree most conservatives support Ukraine. Still, the vast majority of those who are backing Putin are all right wingers, of the Trump variety. I know of only one exception to this general rule; my cousin, Robert the Red, AKA Bolshie Bob. And since I haven't spoken to him in a couple of years, even he might have changed his mind by now.

I think the only reason conservatives feel a need to support the Russian side is that they know liberals are pro-Ukraine and so they must go on record as being anti-Ukraine.
Since everything the Libs do is evil, agreeing with them on even the obvious threatens their position. There is that, plus the role Ukraine played in humiliating Trump when the former refused to participate in his Hunter Biden blackmail.
