this would be a great excuse for US interests who have been looking for an excuse to take out Senor Maduro?
Incidentally, "Maduro" is Spanish for "Mature" or "ripe", as in "fruit ripe for the picking".
It should also be noted that it would certainly be in the interest of several US adversaries if South America erupted in violence, conflict and unrest. Things are already getting pretty hot in Haiti, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Mexico and Central America. Trouble in the Caribbean could certainly keep a couple of carrier battle groups tied down indefinitely.
