I think it was three decades of media hate for Hillary, with a smidge of backlash against a black president, and a soupcon of black voter indifference leading to a slightly reduced turnout.
The bigots aren't voting for a Democrat period. There's no way to win them back other than government making their life better, and even then they'll rail against gubmint spending and the damn libs.
