It would save the USA money if we did provide them housing
It would also be the humane thing to do... the problem is there is a segment of our society (the conservatives) that feels its important to punish them for failing... to kick them when they are down.
Same with immigrants... the Ohio Haitians maligned by Trump and Vance ARE HERE LEGALLY. Yet Trump promises to deport them. The conservatives find it profitable to demonize them... Sure its inhumane and cruel... but the conservatives know it will motivate their bigoted base... They sure as hell are not whipping up hatred against those 'nasty fermented-fish-eating' Scandinavian immigrants, are they?
