The purpose of economic thought and writing is not about explaining any laws of nature, its about justifying the political assumptions upon which it is based. Economics is as much about the nature of commerce and value as Theology is about the nature of God and man's relationship to him. In other words, its propaganda designed to convince and persuade, not inform or educate.
What we normally call 'Economics' is a completely social activity; it does not exist in the real or physical world, it is a totally human construct that depends solely on human psychology and culture and history. Like theology, it claims to explain how and why things are the way they are but it has absolutely nothing to do with the real world. Its primary aim is to convince you "this is the way things must be, should be, so accept them and cooperate". And of course, the ideological and political content found in all economics is merely a justification for the establishment or promotion of the system which determines the distribution of human wealth. These people have every incentive for you to believe what they are trying to teach you.
The only proper response to 'Economics' is to reach back and make sure your wallet is secure. Somebody is trying to pick your pocket.

- If you're going to axe Economics, you might as well take down the study of History while you're at it. n/t
