I grabbed some low res images online and and cut them out in photoshop, then imported the separate psd's into after effects and created this 3D animation file. I made the background move and created a lighting effect as well as the character movement and slight rotation on the globe. The embossing on the photoshop cutouts also added to the 3D look I think. I then exported it as an uncompressed avi, converted it to an h264 file and uploaded to youtube here.
For the heck of it I brought the avi back into photoshop as a video to frames file and converted it into an animated gif and uploaded it to photobucket. Interestingly, the larger I made the gif the smaller it appeared in photobucket, so I kept making the gifs smaller than the original to make it appear larger in photobucket, until I got all the way down to a 90x57 ratio. Smaller than that it started making them smaller again. Weird!?
Messing around with some 3D stuff
