As for who starts the violence (if any): based on the evidence of the past, I suspect it will be started by the same people who burn police cars, break windows and loot stores, block highways and bridges, and throw things at the police.
We already have "red" and "blue" states, and people can decide for themselves where they want to live. It's still legal to change where you live. So far.
