Re: And as I carefully explained,

You did carefully explain, and explain well. You believe all public employees, workers, management, and politicians are hell-bent on shoveling public money to themselves. (Much the way every corporation is trying to shovel everyone's money to themselves.) Wages and fringe benefits are dirty words. Even if that is true, and profits are fair, a product of hard work and ingenuity and wages are the fruits of the Devil, there is no stealing involved in negotiating wages. There was stealing with Enron, etc.

There are labor forces with Unions. They often have pension funds, health and welfare funds, vacation funds and sometimes others. Those can be under the control of Union officials and those can sometimes be misappropriated.

What I said was that there has never been a scandal whereby Union officials misappropriated funds or otherwise behaved badly with money which approached the level of an Enron, WorldCom, hedge funds and bank malfeasance and affected pensions.

You are talking "unfunded liability", which happens with private employers as well as public employers. It is not a Union issue. It is a management responsibility. Management, whether it be public or private, has agreed to pay more than they have.

TB, this is not a subtle point. It is NOT Union corruption. No Union official is going to jail over this. Enron, WorldCom, etc,, was management corruption.

It is an unfortunate situation, I'll agree. And if your worldview equates all public employees with top Union officials then you still don't have a point. If you regard all public employees, all state government management, all state politicians, and all "leftists" as Jimmy Hoffa's you still don't have a point. Those funds haven't been paid to the individual employee and have not been misappropriated.

And I don't think you want to make that stretch.
