Right now the only local nation over there with nukes is a rogue who could easily get the US involved in a global nuclear war. Scary. How rogue is it? Israel does not hesitate to act against the US.

Probably important for Iran to get nukes. Oddly enough, it would stabilize the Middle East. I'm not aware of Iran flying around bombing other nations at will, or seizing land which isn't theirs, robbing the banks of their neighbors, and so on.
