Extreme bias and prejudice are never pretty, are they? "Politburo" is a loaded term, which is why you used it.
It's natural that like will find like, people will hang with people with whom they are more comfortable.
And, at least in Portland, it was estimated 70% of the folks were there for the event and did not share the agenda of the Occupiers. It would be natural for the 30% to make the decisions affecting their group and the others would follow.
Taking a hostile microscope to the group and then expanding that into a worldview will always lead to a screwy worldview. Reminds me of a joke.
New York immigrant woman takes a whole chicken back to a New York immigrant butcher.
"It's rotten", she says. "I bought it and it was spoiled, no good. I want my money back and a fresh chicken."
"Lady, that was a fresh chicken when you bought it. I don't sell bad chickens."
"Oh, yah, well try this!!" She opens the chickens legs and sticks her nose into the body cavity, takes a deep breath. "Just try that!"
"Lady, not even Miss America could pass that test!"
The Tea Party couldn't pass your test.
