But most of us remember how, for decades, the American Left (and the leftists in other Western countries) flocked to the support of every damn Communist who raised his head around the world. You could bet money on who the Left would support in any conflict, any civil war, any revolution. Ask which side was communist. If there was a revolution in a small nation, the Left would support the government if it was communist. If the revolutionaries were communist, that's the side they'd support. Any government that was an ally of the Soviet Union was good, and every government that was an ally of the West was bad. Didn't matter if that government was free, oppressive, or whatever. Asia, South and Central America, Africa, you name it. No exceptions.
I said "most of us" remember. The Left is trying to pretend none of it ever happened. Pretending things aren't there is one of the things they do best.
