I disagree. No one had interest reading those articles when Gingrich was poling at 2%. Did you read them back then?
Further, there are details in both those articles I didn't even know about, and I do a lot of opposition research.
Most rightwing republicans are low information voters who make their decisions based on agreement or disagreement with soundbites. They don't know what they don't know so they won't care. Moderates and independents will be different.
By the way, read the entire Esquire piece. Interesting ending.
