Obama promised way too big on a lot of things, and that's what is hurting enthusiasm levels for his supporters. But no one can say he hasn't executed the war on Al Qaeda effectively. Transitioning to special forces and airstrikes is obviously a cheaper and more effective way of fighting the bad guys than large expensive land armies.
As for this incident, I'm curious what the real story is. This being a Pakistani checkpoint designed to stop taliban border crossings, my bet is the pakistanis were deliberately allowing a high value target through and the NATO copters took them out.
