From the Democratic National Committes site, some photos from a big celebration for Jim Jeffords, to thank him for "switching parties" and handing the Senate to the Democrats. While liberals are still seething about Florida and Bush, I have yet to hear a single one of them refer to Tom Daschle as the "Unelected Majority Leader."

Jeffords and the Democrats have often made lofty pronouncements about how Jeffords could not stand by and see a single party controlling both the Executive and Legislative branches of government, and did this switch out of a strong moral commitment. Here's Jefford's speech at his big celebration, repeating this canard and touting the cascade of all the liberal goodies he has helped bring about. Does anybody really buy this "balance to our national debate" horseshit? Oh, some of you do?

Okay, try this on for size:

Had the President been a Democrat, and the Democrats held the Senate by one seat, I challenge you to visualize a Democrat standing up, claiming that he could not abide the Democratic Party controlling both Legislative and Executive branches, and resigning his party to "balance our national debate."
