Apparently, if you add enough nations to the EU, all the potential immigrants would already be in the EU. Why a poor nation being admitted to the EU would do anything to keep people from immigrating to the rich nations is more than I can figure out. If it were that easy, we could just make Mexico the 51st state. Bingo! No immigration problem!
