"There is a definite bias against Christianity on the Left, which of course includes most media. There was no protest from the mainstream media when that kid wanted to make a speech about "jihad" on a college campus."
Christianity being the dominant religion in this society, it is going to be on point in the "separation" arguments. And it's not the "Christian" part of the Attorney General that's weird - I don't think people "blame" Christianity because he's a bit off.
There was an enormous fuss about the kid using the word "jihad". How do you think you found out about it? And "jihad" seems to have as many meanings as does "crusade".
However, when a Christian President is talking about military actions in the Middle East, "crusade" does have some unpleasant connotations. I don't know that it's unfair to ask him to avoid the word in that context.
If the kid had been talking about political activism rather than his personal journey and used the word "jihad", the fuss may have been justified.
I think a "Muslim" day is great. There aren't a lot of them. I'll bet they have discounts on Easter, or something, and maybe a "Baptist Day" or discounts for members of some congregation who have a picnic there.
I think the rhetoric which is flying around is making it difficult for some Muslims. Much like for the Japanese during WWII. (Funny how it's always "national security".)
There are people on this board, for instance, who talk about going to war or murdering all Muslims. That can't be controlled, but there should be more than me saying that's not all right. And, there isn't. And you know the credibility I have.
