My wife and I have cell phones
and they're very handy. I turn mine off before going into a restaurant or theater, or other places where a ringing phone is just inappropriate. I carry my phone with me when I'm flying in case I have to land out due to bad weather. I just have to be sure to turn it off before takeoff. There's a huge fine for using an ordinary cell phone while flying (either $10K or $20K) because it could jam the network.
Our calling plans include long distance calls. We've only made a single long distance call on our land line since we got the cell phones well over a year ago. We dropped long distance on the land line altogether (sorry, MCI) because they wanted to charge us $3 a month as a minimum fee.
