Re: GMAT prep courses

Hey, Scott!

There's another online service called LearnATest.com that offers practice tests to take online. You can keep an account, take it timed or not, get it scored, get recommendations on improving your scores based on the test you take, and like that. It's a subscription service, and a search for the GMAT turns up two tests at $49.95 each.

You might want to inquire whether any local libraries subscribe to LearnATest on behalf of their patrons. Our system does. It's cheaper than buying 200 copies of the workbooks every year. ;)

And speaking of workbooks: 96 hits on amazon.com. Arco and Barron's are the royalty of exam review manuals, but the most recent Barron's dates to 1998. Arco has a math-only review manual, but it's 1999. The pub date would only matter, I think, if the test format has changed a lot since 1999, but that's worth thinking about.

There's another GMAT math-only, by M. Stuart, dated 2001, but coupled with GRE. The customer reviews, based on their impressions of its helpfulness after they took the test, are very mixed.

Arco will have a 2003 workbook out, but it's in prepub limbo. If you don't plan to take the test this year, you might want to wait for that one.

Good luck!
Mary Anne
