James Bond, where are you?

Nigel appears to be a complete failure as a man for not climbing up the author's skirt on the second date, which probably says more about the values of the author than about English men, although he loses definite points for discussing ex-girlfriends on a date.

The banker appears to be a failure as a man for not climbing up her skirt on a fourth date, and for assuming that the author was off-limits since he thought she was seeing another man.

Okay, English men appear to be duds in many areas. Maybe this is due to years of politically correct indoctrination on the evils of masculinity. Maybe it is the boarding schools. And maybe this is due to years of exposure to ball-breaking, hairy-legged, raving feminist pyscho hose beasts who would murder you where you stand for opening a car door. Heck, I'm surprised modern single men are even willing to come out from under their beds, much less go on dates.

...Ten years ago it was common for Canadian and American women to become ‘offended’ by men who employed traditional courtly behaviour. Males were dressed down for opening doors and bills were split on principle. Since then, however, there has been a softening of the feminist ethic where romance is concerned.

Somewhere along the way, North American women took what they wanted from political correctness and feminism and discarded the rest. Women like to be courted, and proper courtship is, by definition, a gendered pursuit. It requires men to adhere to a different, even oppositional, code of behaviour from their female counterparts’. Like a waltz, it can be very beautiful so long as everybody knows the steps.

Maybe the news that women think it's okay to be female again hasn't hit enough men. Give it time.
