Talk radio helps put the kibosh on new taxes and the tax supporters, too.
A key paragraph that should be tattooed on the foreheads of certain people:
One of the defeated legislators privately admitted that he misjudged the voters' anger. "They are willing to pay for services, but they honestly think we should be cutting back on waste before going to them for more money," he said. He acknowledged that the state's budget woes are rooted in its generous TennCare program, which was designed to provide health insurance to poorer residents. The program grew and grew, and now one in four Tennesseans is dependent on it. (boldface mine).
Catch a clue, single-payer fans.
Notice the many attempts by the Tennessee legislature to sneak the proposals through without their constituents noticing it. This is a common technique here in California as well. More than once alerts by local talk show hosts have caught our legislators robbing the cookie jar too.
The last thing politicians want is an electorate that knows what's really going on. A cynic might say that this is one reason we have a government education system seemingly designed to turn out mindless gasbrains with almost zero education in recent history, and political and economic theory.
I love the smell of burning liberals in the morning...
