The exposure of the cricket jaunt, which occurred several months ago, comes just one week after The Sunday Telegraph revealed prison staff quelled a riot at the Kariong centre by offering the rioters McDonald's hamburgers.
Eight teenage prisoners, including a murderer, got drunk on an indoor cricket excursion designed to ease them back into society.
A senior youth worker has been suspended over the incident on the Central Coast.
The prisoners, all inmates at the Kariong juvenile detention centre, had been given permission to go on the supervised outing by prison officials. But once at the indoor cricket centre in West Gosford, several of the prisoners -- all under 18 -- bought alcohol and got drunk.
The youth worker, who has been found guilty of negligence, is believed to have been playing cricket at the time. One of the ringleaders of the drunk teens is serving time for murder.
