Ever since the 1st "Flying Saucers" such phenomenon have always seemed to just incorporate the latest trendy technology speculated about in places like popular Science magazzine. Now with plasma weapons being considered as rational possibilities by the Pentagon suddenly that new spiffy technology EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!
Me, I'd say we're incorporating a distorted perception of technology into our fantasies.
My favorite "crop circle" is the one(s) with the evil Microsoft emblum.
