I truly wish that was just a "flub". It wasn't. Bush repeatedly lied to con the American public into believing the lives and money they were spending in Afghanistan were producing results. It was a betrayal of the trust Americans have in the Presidency.
It's understandable, as I said, that people would try to ignore or minimize such an egregious abuse of trust. No one wants to believe elected leaders at that level or that the American government could be so foul. It's painful.
And sometimes one has to face reality rather than remain comfortable. One doesn't have to, I guess, but for one's own integrity it's essential.
