Late night in the File of Weirdness...

The talk radio station I like, KSFO (free plug), plays Art Bell late at night while I'm working. If people say I'm more tolerant of Cydonuts and the like than most, it's because I've built up something of a resistance listening to this show. Most of the people on this show possess a credulity level that makes Lindy look like The Amazing Randi. The far-out types that pop up on this board are quite reasonable in contrast. Art, and his replacement hosts, must of course listen politely and at least fake the credulity that is required to listen to these people. Some of our old favorites show up frequently, like Hoagland, who is apparently promising some huge revelation Thursday night. Probably a brand-new booger on a photo negative.

I often find this stuff immensely entertaining, although some of it is either so silly or so boring that I tune it out and stick CDs into my CD drive instead.

Some of it is real science, or close enough to the borders of reality to get my attention. A recent show on the Hydrogen Economy falls into this class.

Tomorrow night Nick Cook, the author of "The Hunt for Zero Point: Inside the Classified World of Antigravity Technology," is scheduled. I'm there, man.
