Re: I wonder...

The school book fairs are popular with my kids too. The kids pick out the books they like, and Mom and Dad pick out a few that they think will be educational, like biographies and such, which often just end up lying around unwrapped. Sigh.

You can lead a horse to water...my son reads mostly comics and superhero fiction, and my daughter reads mostly Terry Pratchett. I managed to talk her this week into Stephen King's superb "Eyes of the Dragon," the only kid's book he's ever written (the otherwise prolific bastard has never written another one to my knowledge.) Limited specially-illustrated editions of this book go for almost $3,000. I got the paperback.

At least they both love to read, and my theory is that if a kid loves to read, ANYTHING they read is a good thing. Even comic books.

And hey, Rowling: off the pot, already.
