Hi Lindy,
Here's Neil MacKay:
Scottish Reporter of a newspaper I had never even heard of before.
Here's William Kristol the "mastermind" of Bush's plans and founder of the PNAC:
Now let's see MacKay rubs his goatee over in Scotland and suddenly it comes to his attention that Bill Kristol is the mastermind of all of Bush's actions because of a "secret" policy paper put out by the PNAC in 2000.
Hmmm.
Let's do a little research. The PNAC was formed early in 1997. My bet is that after Dole lost to Clinton in 1996, Kristol decided to step up the conservative rhetoric and media blitzes.
Policy papers are written all the time. Anyone with a subscription to Foreign Policy review or any of the other Policy journals out there (and there are a lot) knows that every editor in DC and their brother has written up pieces for these journals. The strong foreign policy, strong space presence, anti-UN US stance was not invented in 2000 but has been present in some form or another since Reagan. The PNAC folks are just another voice in a sea of voices from the right side of the aisle. The fact that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Jeb Bush are members of the organization - simply means they subscribe to the statement of principle which the organization has put forth.
I have a hard time seeing Kristol as the arch-mastermind of the new world order. In fact, I have a hard time seeing him as even a sub-mastermind.
MacKay calls the PNAC "neo-conservatives" betraying his journalistic bias - for everyone knows the Kristol and company are not "new" conservatives at all, but if anything are old-world conservatives. However "neo-conservative" fits in with "neo-nazi" - a favorite word association game these childlike minds utilize. Where are the "neo-liberals" - oops! That's right - there are none!
Silly me, word games are for parrots.
The leftist rags on the internet are legion. MacKay is just another wannabe reporter making his name by ragging on others.
Nothing new there. Lots of journalists are hoping that a hot news story will make them famous and raise their income.
Since Scotland isn't exactly the hub of the newscycle - Juicy global news pieces will occur once every decade if their lucky. Time to use the ol' Enquirer standby - sensationalism!
If one read the full PNAC paper - I am sure it sounds just like hundreds, if not thousands, of others - promoting a strong defense, advocating a pro-active foreign policy, containing communism and other dangers to the world (such as Saddam) and packages them all together.
Global domination. Sounds cool. Sounds ominous! Sounds threatening.
Newsflash. The US already dominates the world. That's why they call it a superpower.
All this tells me of MacKay is that he is a leftist kid who is not too well read.
Thanks for posting it though, as its always good to look into the face of sensationalism and see how it is born and who gives it birth.
Surely this will be all over the internet soon in every leftist, extremist, slightly irrational internet-zine and then MacKay can become an "expert" and an "investigative reporter".
