What is it about Democrats and elections?

Consider this story where election results for a Democrat primary held last March were just decided by a judge yesterday.

"Six months after voters in the 78th House District cast their votes for state representative, the election appeared to finally come to a close Tuesday, rivaling the 2000 contested Bush-Gore Florida balloting down to hanging chads.

After losing a coin toss to decide the race in April and struggling through a grueling court battle that included hanging chads, missing ballots and allegations of phony signatures, Deborah L. Graham let out a soft but lingering sigh as Cook County Circuit Judge Raymond Jagielski declared her the winner of the Democratic primary in her district, which includes the city's West Side and parts of Oak Park and River Forest.

When voters in the newly drawn district went to bed after the March 19 Democratic primary, they thought they'd wake up the next morning to find out whether Graham or challenger Dorothy M. Reid had won. But the voters had split their support down the middle. Each candidate had 6,934 votes.

At the end of the recount Tuesday, Graham had 6,976.45 votes to Reid's 6,945.60. The fractions resulted from bench rulings on illegal election practices. In those cases, each candidate in the race was penalized proportionally."

Note, this is from Cook County, Illinois, home of Chicago. Surely a Bush somewhere must be to blame for this!
