I read your post and tried to remember when it was that I sat around thinking up names for people with ideas with which we didn't concur. I mean, doing nothing but thinking up names.

I think it was in late grade school, and we did it because we didn't know enough to debate the issues. So we tried to ridicule instead of getting into the substantive matters, 'cause we'd lose them.

When we weren't busy saying clever things like "that's dumb" or "get real" we thought that shouting down someone was "winning" a debate.

Kinda immature, now that I think of it, and we were. Nothing wrong with that. Kids must be kids if they are to grow into adults.

Congratulations - you're on the way. Another 20 years or so you can get substantive, engage in real discourse, and stop holding your own.
