The difference is that Democrats have painted themselves as the Party of the Minority, which emphasizes their hypocrisy in their abuse of minorities who refuse to be left wing toadies.
After all, all Republicans are actually virulent racists who are all Ku Klux Klan members, and we can't expect anything better of them.
