Hey, Richard!
The idea is for people to correct the errors as they find them. So why didn't you? ;)
The big problem with source authority in anonymous projects is that nobody's butt gets hung out to dry if the information is wrong. But the basic idea is sound: throw editorial authority open to everyone, and it will eventually be corrected. You'd be surprised how much the addition of a sentence will increase your sense of ownership in the article's contents.
What a perfect opportunity for the hobbyist or the autodidact to share the obsessions of a lifetime! Sure, these aren't all people with degrees, but there's knowledge out there without traditional credentials that will never be collected otherwise. So whaddaya say? Write a couple articles on boat structure and competitive fishing?
The big danger is for it to be taken over by ideologues. This would be anyone who votes for a Democrat. ;)
It's an experiment. Call it utopian anarchic scholarship.
Regards--
Mary Anne
