Last week there was a debate on french TV about anti-americanism with Jean-François Revel, Emmanuel Todd, Jean Ziegler, De Villepin (foreign minister) and Claude Allegre (former science minister) and others and it was very interesting: it turns out the French people are far less anti-american than their leaders while the opposite is more likely in Germany, a country with a far stronger social cohesiveness.
Last night, I saw a program on the BBC about the unavoidability of war. The Briis don't believe in its unavoidability (65% of those polled) while the journalists present did.
And there will be more of those debates.
Where is there more freedom of expression?
At least those who disagree are not called unpatriotic.
