Sounds like the "Darwinean Drinking Theory"
Since alcohol is said to kill brain cells, it stands to reason that it would kill the weak ones. Darwinean drinking has the goal of killing off the weak cells until you're left with that one dominent brain cell. Of course, the person who explained this to me had apparently been applying this theory for some time.
