Just the other day while sitting around the dinner table I brought out a recent issue of "Fortean Times" a British magazine dedicated to oddities and anomalies. I went and got it after my college grad brother, Doug, made the comment "Why are all these reports (i.e. giant birds, sea serpents, green children, etc.) from like 1889 or something? How come they don't happen now if they're real?" The next day (!) my father gave me a clipping from the Patriot Ledger newspaper concerning this 'huge bird'. The reports seem to be from sincere people who really feel they've seen something highly unusual. It all seems to confirm to me that the anomalous experience is a bit more commonplace than we usually presume! Also, I'd like to say to the people mentioning a "thunderbird" connection... you may be on to something.
