I first saw Moller's Skycar about 15 years ago. At that time he was taking deposits at $50,000 a pop. It seemed like a con.
Now that computers have shrunk in size and increased in power maybe there is a chance for the Skycar. After all, they made the NightHawk fly.
For some reason I was under the impression that the thrust vectoring was accomplish by ducting. Now I see the engines tilt- like the Osprey. Except for the tail, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of control surfaces.
That AeroCar 2000 looks great. As you know, it would be nice to fly somewhere and not have to rent a car or call a taxi.
One problem, what do you think about the landing gear? No ground clearance. Suspension? You'd have to be a hell of a pilot to bring that thing down on all fours.
Four day NTSB conference on the crash of Flight 587 starts today.
