Well, blow me down. Found this while looking for something else, and it was refreshing to see a well-thought-out document on eliminating Federal Waste emanating from the Left, and the radical environmentalists no less. Usually, the only response you get from leftists when Federal spending comes up is "cut defense!"
I skimmed through their target cuts, and I'll be damned if most of them aren't pretty good ideas, particularly the loads of pork and corporate welfare. In fact, I can only find a few that I would be reluctant to cut, and even those are hard to justify spending Federal bucks on instead of private ones. Details (which I don't have the time to go over one by one) can be found here.
Reminds me of Citizens Against Government Waste, and I'd bet there would be a lot of agreement between the two despite positions at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
One can almost overlook the fact that unlike conservatives, who would return tax money to taxpayers, the environmentalists would almost certainly advocate massive Federal spending on things THEY like, but we can let that go for now.
Cut Federal Spending! (say the environmentalists)
