I figure that liberals hang around with psychos so much that they assume everybody in America must be a psycho. I can understand feeling a bit nervous about armed civilians when the civilians you see have spiked hair, nipple rings, and drug-addled personalities.

The assumption that one cannot own a weapon without immediately blazing away at everyone in sight says more about your pyschology and that of your friends that it does about reality. Everyone I know who carries or owns a gun is someone I feel quite comfortable with being armed. "Rednecks" have been routinely carrying guns around since this country was founded, and surprisingly few go around shooting each other. How about you make up a list of all the murders in the past year, and tally up how many were by white loony militia rednecks? And how many were by some other groups? It ain't the rednecks doing the drive-bys over in Oakland. Maybe you might want to consider changing neighborhoods?

If pilots, or even passengers, on the airliners of 9-11 had been armed, the planes would not have been hijacked, but I guess that's neither here nor there.

A nation where honest people are armed is a lot safer than a nation where only the criminals have weapons. And the criminals ALWAYS have weapons, in spite of gun laws. Breaking laws seems to be a common trait of criminals.
