Every now and then I still have hope for Europe

You can help save the world twice in a century and be remembered fondly by the very oldest men in France, Britain and some of the other nations. But the fathers and grandfathers of the 20-50 year old crowd who have died, have left kids uninformed and inexperienced in the horrors their ancestors experienced.

Thus, these fifty year olds now in charge, and their children, are blissfully ignorant of the US sacrifice in two European wars which it could easily have stayed home and watch Hitler kick every European nation's behind into the Atlantic and complete his vision of the Third Reich. To add insult to injury we watch these liberals wring their hands and wax poetic about Yugoslavia - something which could easily have been handled by Europe - and then we have to clean up that mess as well.

Grateful? No, not in the least. The average Euro is as disconnected from national sacrifice as is possible. They laugh and snicker at the provincial Americans, they twist their lips with disdain at capital punishment and our gun laws - yet when push comes to shove it is the ignorant US servicemen who keeps pulling their ham out of the fire.

They make the mistake assuming it is that because the US is coarse and simplistic that they sacrifice themselves for people they laugh and snicker at and parody in their socialist newspapers and magazines. But it is because Americans believe in something....something called freedom. They believe that sacrificing their lives for some strangers freedom is just as noble as for your own children. They believe that saving the world from evil will save others lives.

Sacrifice is as American as apple pie and McDonalds.

"With great power comes great responsibility."

As corny as it sounds, this motto is not just just a great line for Cliff Robertson to say in a Spiderman movie - it is a motto America lives by and has for the past hundred years.

If America truly becomes the "great Satan" or "Coarse, brutish cowboys" the Islamic world and the Socialist European world respectively portray us as - well the world would not hear these descriptions because the throats they would have emerged from would have long ago ceased to exist.
