This is being plugged on the hourly news on the radio.
Ahh, yes. Better and wiser people than ourselves telling us how to live our lives again. Another example of the blind hatred of prosperity and luxury that expresses itself in opposition to SUVs, fast food, and pretty much anything that represents Middle America.
Please, browse all the links from this base thoroughly. There are many of them, cascading into each other. Look at all the pages. Learn what they want. Learn how they want you to be forced to live. Be sure to study the vandalism encouraged here. Most of all, learn that all of this is proceeding from the same sources.
You laugh at me, but these people have declared war on YOU. In case you haven't been paying attention, the Leftists have focused on fast food as the next big target, and their shock troops the trial lawyers are already deployed. Have you noticed how suddenly dozens of "studies" on obesity are making the news? This is laying more of the groundwork.
...Big Food is the next Big Tobacco. Obesity now kills 330,000 North Americans a year and will soon pass tobacco as the leading preventable cause of sickness and death. The good news is that we've fought this kind of industry fight before – and we know how to win.
-- We win symbolically, uncooling the biggest, baddest global food brands.
-- We win back our kids, building a movement to kick junk food out of schools.
-- We win back the future, wresting the biotech agenda away from corporations and into civil society's hands.
-- We win the information war, confronting North America every night on TV with the vicious slaughter of animals that goes on out of our sight.
It took us more than 50 years to bring down Big Tobacco.
We'll beat Big Food in 10.
And what's next? "Big Shelter?" Is your home too large for the number of people living in it?
I leave it to you to imagine what power these people would have if our government was paying for all our health care. No decision you make could be legitimately separated from the fact that the state has to pay for your health. Why do you think socialized medicine is the Leftist holy grail?
I'm old enough to remember when socialism promised prosperity and wealth to those who adopted it. You couldn't see a communist poster in China or elsewhere that didn't show cheerfully smoking factories and power lines in the background. When it became obvious that socialism couldn't deliver sand in the Sahara, the party line switched to the idea that prosperity itself was evil. Wealth is evil. Consumption is evil. Technology is evil. ANYTHING that evokes an image of America to the mind is evil.
I have yet to meet a single person, or even hear of one, supporting this kind of thing that is not personally living in the lap of luxury themselves. Usually in America. It takes a LOT of money to only buy vegetarian entrees, organically-produced foods, rain-forest-free furniture, and the like. I still think two years or so of living under Third World conditions would cure a lot of them.
I still haven't figured out how these people manage to resist the hypnotic advertising that apparently sucks the souls out of us lesser mortals. Maybe they are just superior, and I should get used to them steering our destinies for us. It should not go unnoticed that poor, angry, and envious people are much easier to rule than wealthy, contented and confident people. If these people got everything they wanted, you would live in a poverty-stricken hell. But you would make GREAT slaves.
BTW, I never shop on the day after Thanksgiving--except online. I just don't like the crowds.
