Mike P. Maginnis and his wild adventure

Poor ol' Mike.

So poor he can barely get around Denver by himself. (more on that later). Not only that, but he's not a photographer, and rather identifies himself as a "Senior Systems Engineer" and hates Microsoft with a passion. (Big, evil corporation.)

It's amazing how the sludge of the web has picked up this tale and repeated it verbatim adding their own paranoid rhetoric to it and as far as I can tell not a single reputable source has any verification.

Would Mike Maginnis lie?

Yes, I think he would. Could he have an agenda?

Absolutely.

He's a devoted follower of the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) who lives on being paranoid about the government and big business. He attends protests even though he seems not to have a car. If he really was near VP Cheney's hotel and was pointing equipment at snipers - he's lucky he wasn't shot.

Not a real bright fellow, though, for a privacy devotee. His e-mail address, real address and his old love of Apple II computers are identifiable after only five minutes of Googling. (I wont print them here cause I want to protect poor Mike's privacy.)

So what's a Sr. Systems Engineer doing photographing snipers anyway? Seems to be a load of malarky to me. Oh, he "often photographs buildings and communications equipment."

Makes great grist for the sludge, sleazoids of the web though - who print first and ask no questions later.

It reeks of amateur lying. "Dirty pinko fa--ot" and enough other demonizations of the police and SS to thrill the paranoid lefties out there until they wet their pants.

It's a crock. One engineered by a poor computer hacker, and as far anyone can tell, a
self-proclaimed "Dirty pinko...."

PS.

Lindy, didn't you always say all these folks simply disappear? Why would they hold this guy for 3 hours and let him go? The evil Bush empire has plenty of abandoned, played out oil wells with room to spare, surely they wouldn't let this guy out to talk about his experiences would they? What sort of "stormtroopers" do that? So the whole Denver Police Department is in on it too? Wow! What omnipotent loyalty the Bush empire commands! It's truly amazing, don't you think?
