You're right that most people in our culture are ignorant about Africa. Many of us assume all Africans are pretty much the same, when in reality they are probably much more diverse than Europeans are.

Something that didn't occur to me when I first wrote the post is that these articles may have a positive effect on the lives of the people profiled. This kind of publicity often brings in a lot of help. Maybe Adama will be offered a better job soon.

The main point I was trying to make is that in many other countries people still have a serious work ethic, which seems to be declining in our country.
