A fatah? Just a bit melodramatic, don't you think? Your original post implied that Rushdie had originated the limerick (he had Bush in mind when he penned it). Whether the Nicaraguan folk story or the crocodile song came first, it wasn't Rushdie's idea. I just thought it was interesting that the words were almost identical except for the type of animal. No need for drama.
But the metaphor still works.
